Summary |
BAFTA award winning Spike Lee directs Get on the Bus, a moving drama which follows the lives of a group of disparate African-American men. The men are travelling on a cross country bus trip to Washington, DC in order to participate in the politically charged Million Man March.The Million Man March was an African American movement held in Washington D.C. 16 October, 1995. It was designed as a gathering to offer support and raise awareness. The event was organised to help convey to the world a positive view of the African American people. It was also an event intended to unite the African American people to gain attention from the politicians of the day.The men on the bus are an eclectic group of characters including a laid off aircraft worker, a former gang member, a Hollywood actor, a police officer who is of mixed racial background, and a white bus driver. All the men make the trek discussing issues surrounding the march, manhood, religion, politics, and race.Directed by Spike Lee. Starring Ossie Davis, Bernie Mac, Charles S.
