Summary Silesia, a coal mining industrial region in Poland, is troubled with a high unemployment rate. For some of the 17 to 18 year old girls that live here, a local modelling agency that provides models for erotic photography and erotic dancing is the first job for many of the girls in this town. Hoping to end up in the world of fashion, many instead find themselves working in the porn industry or as prostitutes within a brothel. This revealing documentary tells the story of this agency, its boss and several of the local girls working for him. Many of the girls have grown up in Silesia where conservative social and family traditions are very much alive. The documentary sheds light not only on the models' work, but also on their everyday interaction with family and colleagues from the agency, providing personal commentary of their experiences. Silesia Strips tries to answer such questions as: Why did girls choose this line of work? Where does the border lie between erotic dance and prostitution? How does society react to people working in this controversial business? (In Polish, English subtitles) (Documentary) CC WS
