Summary |
The present volume reviews eight years' study of the ecological impact of Chernobyl on the environment, natural ecosystems, agro-ecosystems, human ecology, biological diversity, and genetic and socio-economic systems, with each of seven chapters containing an overview of present understanding, scientific hypotheses and research recommendations. A final chapter describes the setting up and aims of the multinational and multidimensional Chernobyl Ecological Science Network. It is hoped that the volume will provide a useful source of information and reference to researchers and others concerned with the post-Chernobyl phenomenon, and more broadly with the large-scale, multidimensional effects of human technology that is allowed to get out of control |
