At the age of seven, Telo Rinpoche was recognized by the Dalai Lama to be a reincarnate lama. He spent the next 13 years in a Tibetan monastery in South India. He is now 22 and living in New Jersey. But Buddhism is making a rapid comeback in the former Soviet bloc and the Dalai Lama has sent Tilo to Elista to oversee several projects, including the building of a monastery
