Summary *Adult Themes, Coarse Language, Sexual References*Nene (Mandy McElhinney) basks in the glow of her victory at putting Woman's Day on top of New Idea in the circulation war. She is offered the 'Squidgy Tapes' - secret recordings of Princess Diana talking with her supposed lover James Gilbey. But for the first time ever, Nene loses her nerve. Unsure if the recording is genuine, she decides not to publish the transcripts.Meanwhile, Dulcie's (Rachel Griffiths) trusted colleague, Peter Dawson (Socratis Otto), gets a sniff of an even bigger story - 'Camilla-gate', Prince Charles and his lover, Camilla Parker Bowles, secretly recorded, flirting and talking like teenagers. Dulcie doesn't lose her nerve. Taking on a story she might have previously avoided, Dulcie decides to print the full transcript and New Idea surges ahead of Woman's Day again. Many changes are in the air for both women.Nene finally marries the love of her life, Patrick (Angus Sampson), and also agitates for and receives the editorship of The Australian Women's Weekly. She is the first woman ever to hold both jobs at once: Editor-in-chief of The Australian Women's Weekly and of Woman's Day.Dulcie decides she's had enough of the magazine game and goes out on top. She takes a position on the Channel 7 board, becoming the first woman ever to hold this position.Nene's run as Editor-in-chief of The Australian Women's Weekly is not clear sailing. Circulation numbers do not go up. Nene fights bitterly with her old friend, Susan Duncan (Lucy Bell), who she appointed editor. And Kerry Packer (Rob Carlton) has brought in an American cost cutter named Al Dunlap (Sean Taylor) who threatens to curtail Nene's spending.Nothing is going right when ... Heartbreak strikes both women. Dulcie's marriage falls apart and Patrick Bowring tragically dies in a diving accident. For Nene, the pain is overwhelming, especially since it was she who bought Pat his first scuba lessons. With Patrick's death, Nene loses the compass of her life. She falls into deep despair.PRODUCTION DETAILS:Producer: Mimi Butler. Executive Producer Southern Star: Janeen Faithful. Executive Producers ABC TV: Carole Sklan and David Ogilvy.
