Summary |
The Adult Transitions Longitudinal Study was a 5-year study tracking the educational outcomes of adult students participating in an adult basic education-to-college transition program. This case describes three key principles for guiding this longitudinal study and the strategies the research team used to enact each of these principles. These three principles are as follows: (a) get the data, (b) get high-quality data, and (c) keep the data organized. Although simple, the Adult Transitions Longitudinal Study team discovered the usefulness of these three principles in making decisions during the course of a long and complicated study. The goal of this case is to help future researchers to navigate the unique aspects of longitudinal studies more successfully, as well as to estimate the additional resources needed to stay true to the principles |
