Summary |
"In this dark comedy Hammed is a leading political figure in Majdal Shams, a Druze township that has been under Israeli occupation since the late '60s. Hammed has arranged for his daughter, Mona, to marry Tallel, a successful actor in Syria. The occasion is a bittersweet one, given the combative relationship between Israel and Syria. The family accompanies Mona to the border, where she'll have to cross to Syria by herself. Tallel, the groom, waits on the other side with his family. Once Mona crosses into Syria, she'll never be allowed into Israel again, not even to visit her close-knit family. Directed by Eran Riklis, and stars Hiam Abbass, and Makram Khoury. (From Israel, France, and Germany, in Arabic and Hebrew, English subtitles)" -- website |
