Summary |
"Information skills instruction is a fundamental and vital part of K-12 education in the twenty-first century. As information specialists, library media personnel have a leadership role in teaching these skills. The Handy 5 has been demonstrated to be an effective model for planning, teaching, and assessing information skills instruction. Successful implementation of this integrated assessment model requires library media specialists and teachers to reconsider their roles in working with students. If we truly believe that all students can learn and that the role of teachers and school librarians is to enhance learning, new ways of structuring the learning process must include systematic and frequent assessment throughout the learning process. This five-step model provides a framework for planning learning activities to accommodate frequent and systematic evaluation for the benefit and success of all students."--BOOK JACKET |
