Summary In the late 1940s, the French Establishments of Oceania (now French Polynesia), see the dawn of a local political life. Pouvanaa a Oopa, the first Tahitian to be elected Representative in 1949, is also the charismatic leader of the first political party, the RDPT (Rassemblement des Populations Tahitiennes). For the colonial French authorities, his forceful opposition becomes an obstacle to the successful setting up of a nuclear testing site in the Pacific. In the name of reasons of State, a strategy is implemented to isolate the man capable of ruining the plans of a nation. Victim of a frame-up in October 1958, he is arrested, imprisoned and sentenced to 15 years in exile
