Summary "From my own experience of the end results of war head injury, gained in a British military hospital for head injuries for over eighteen months of the present conflict, I can very strongly recommend the present volume. In it Dr. Goldstein sets out clearly the experience gained in rehabilitation after head injury in the last world war. His methods have stood the test of time, and with little adaptation have again been found the most successful approach to the problem. His book provides a survey of the subject which is unique and eminently practical. It is an excellent starting point for the many--surgeon, physician, neurologist, psychiatrist, and general practitioner alike--who will find themselves expected to assess or treat such cases at one or another stage. Apart from these considerations, this book is remarkable as a study in the application of practical psychologic methods in the medical clinic, a subject which is attracting increasing attention with the realization that it is essential to the complete understanding of the effects of many types of "organic" disease or injury. In this, Dr. Goldstein displays his especial genius and an achievement of no mean proportions"--Foreword. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2010 APA, all rights reserved)
