Description 1 earthenware jardiniere : ceramic, cream, green, gold ; 13 cm high x 13 cm diameter.
Summary An earthenware jardiniere, cream with a green and gilt line around the rim and green transfer print on the body. On 2 sides of the jardiniere are formal portraits of Queen Victoria flanked left and right by an Australian and a British soldier. To one side of this are portraits of the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and York, and on the other side, are the portraits of Sir Henry Parkes, next to the first governor general, Lord Hopetoun. Surrounding them is a garland of flowers. On the top rim is a floral band.
Notes "May the union between the colonies and the mother-land, now cemented by their blood, be for ever maintained - Joseph Chamberlain"--Underneath one portrait of Queen Victoria.
On the base of the jardinière is the maker's mark, "Doulton Burslem England".
