Save Our History |
Summary |
SAVE OUR HISTORY documents the efforts to preserve three homes with presidential pasts. The President Slept Here is one of the great American civic boasts, and countless residences claim some link to America's legendary leaders. SAVE OUR HISTORY documents the ongoing restoration efforts at three homes that have significant presidential connections: James Madison's Montpelier, in Orange, Virginia; the Soldier's Home cottage in Washington, DC, Lincoln's presidential retreat; and the Longfellow House in Cambridge, Massachusetts, which was George Washington's Revolutionary headquarters. At each of these historic sites, engineers, architects and preservation experts demonstrate the high-tech strategies that are helping keep these important buildings in good shape, from ground penetrating radar and architectural arthroscopic surgery to advanced imaging techniques that make it possible to create detailed drawings from digital photographs |
