Summary When Richard Milhous Nixon was elected 37th President of the USA in 1968, the country was profoundly religious and political choices were accepted in the name of God and Country. This documentary explores his coming to power - achieved by his constant use of manipulation, lies and secrecy. Nixon was not the only politician who believed that the end justified the means, but he turned his obsession into an art form. The film traces his beginnings as a lawyer and his recruitment into the Republican Party, to his 1960 Presidential loss to John F Kennedy and, through his presidency and ultimately his resignation in 1974.
