Summary Australia's Mel Gibson directs this controversial film about the last twelve hours of Jesus of Nazareth's life. From the temptation by Satan, betrayal by Judas Iscariot to his trial for blasphemy and condemnation to death. Jesus is brought before Pilate, the Roman Governor of Palestine, who listens to the accusations against him. Pilate gives the crowd a choice between setting Jesus free or the criminal, Barabbas and they condemn Jesus. He is given a cross to carry through the streets of Jerusalem to Golgotha, where he suffers his last temptation ... the fear that his father has abandoned him.
