Summary |
Can a change at the top of a company turn it around from a firm marked by acute operational inefficiencies and losses to a profitable company in a span of two years? The obvious answer of an optimistic business manager would be "yes," but there are very few examples to bolster the answer. The business turnaround experienced by SpiceJet is one example of a company that was able to become profitable and sustainable in a span of two years after key leadership, strategic, and operational changes. Mr. Ajay Singh joined the board of SpiceJet in May 2015 as Chairman and Managing Director and was instrumental in the turnaround of the company from loss to profit making. Under his leadership, the low-cost airline operating out of India made many changes between 2015 and 2016. As the company looks to sustain the business and deliver consistent profits, it needs to assess which changes resulted in the most positive change and which changes or decisions will help his company sustain its profitable position in the future |
