| Summary |
"Set in Sri Lanka, No More Tears Sister recreates the life of renowned human rights activist Dr. Rajani Thiranagama, who was assassinated at the age of thirty-five. Directed by Helene Klodawsky, this feature-length documentary is the first film to look at Sri Lanka's brutal twenty-five-year ethnic conflict between the Sri Lankan government and the separatist Tamil Tigers, seen here through the eyes of revolutionary women. Fifteen years after Rajani's death, her sister Nirmala, a former political prisoner and Tamil Tiger militant, breaks her silence about Rajani's courageous life and brutal slaying. Joining her are Rajani's husband, sisters and grown daughters, as well as fellow activists forced underground. Rajani was part of a generation of political activists of the 1960s and '70s who dreamed of radically transforming their societies.
