Summary |
On April 22, 2010, an expatriate manager at Drydocks World Graha in Batam Island, Indonesia, declared that Indonesians were "stupid." In response, thousands of Indonesian shipyard workers rioted, destroying assets worth hundreds of millions of dollars. This case invites students to examine different actors' perspectives on the violent conflict, and to critically analyze its causes, as well as identifying short- and long-term strategies to prevent its reoccurrence that consider factors within, but also beyond, the workplace |
