Summary |
Across Australia and the world, Waterwatch groups are developing collaborative partnerships and linkages with other programs and organisations such as: Landcare, Catchment Management Authorities, State Agencies, Water Authorities, schools, Universities, Coastcare and Saltwatch to name a few. These partnerships and linkages are allowing Waterwatch groups to share information, and to learn from other programs and community groups. Waterwatch is also developing new ways of using data to achieve the goal of 'healthy waterways'. This publication showcases a story from each State and Territory, about the partnerships and linkages that exist between Waterwatch groups and others around the country such as; schools, government agencies, industry groups, overseas organisations, community groups and many more. The Waterwatch Program encourages linkages with other programs and community groups to involve people in waterway monitoring, protection and awareness. These linkages are happening from the ground level, right through to the broad scale sharing of information with relevant programs in other countries. Individual Waterwatch groups may develop partnerships with industry and private companies to obtain financial assistance and other support for monitoring and educational activities. This form of partnership allows organisations to become directly involved in the collection of waterway monitoring data and as a result are able to target environmental management practices accordingly |
