Summary "Since the fall of Saddam Hussein's regime, terrorist attacks and hostage taking have been regular occurrences in Iraq. Each day there have been dozens of civil and military deaths, increasing the heavy toll from this war engaging American soldiers and insurgents. The Americans have put a name and face to the terrorist attacks, that of Abu Mussab Al-Zarqawi. Al-Zarqawi claimed responsibility for the attack against the UN headquarters in Baghdad in August 2003 and later the massacre of Shiite people. He claimed responsibility for the kidnapping and assassination of an Egyptian diplomat, two Algerian diplomats and that of American citizen Nicholas Berg, decapitated on video. When King Hussein of Jordan signed a peace deal with Israel, Al-Zarqawi became more radical and created a terrorist group. He was arrested one year later and condemned to 15 years' imprisonment, and the group was dismantled. In 1999, King Abdallah II became king of Jordan and signed a royal amnesty to pardon all the Islamist detainees. Al-Zarqawi was released and soon his terrorist career was relaunched. He set up a terrorist group called Al-Tawhid in 2000 and set up a training camp in eastern Afghanistan. Today, the US government attributes all terrorist actions to Al-Zarqawi and some even think that the Syrian secret services are often behind the attacks in Iraq. The film investigates this connection, which seems plausible, but in 2004, Al-Zarqawi still showed allegiance to Bin Laden, becoming the undisputed head of Al-Qaida in Iraq. He regularly claims responsibility for attacks through audio messages on the internet without showing his face. The new face of terror is building an air of mystery about him.
