Summary Duchenne muscular dystrophy is a degenerative genetic disease which affects male children only. The child usually experiences difficulty moving, frequently losing the ability to walk by the age of ten and the ability to move arms by fifteen. Life expectancy is short, usually late teens to early twenties. It is responsible for permanent damage to families and to marriages. This is a case study of how this disease affected one family which lost two sons to the disease
