Summary Baroness Susan Greenfield is the director of the Royal Institution of Great Britain. She also led the recent campaign to warn of the dangers of the influence of junk culture on childhood and the impact of new technology on the way children develop and learn. She argues that much more research is needed, so we can understand how new computer and video technologies - based on vision and sound and offering rapid stimulation - are affecting children's brains. She wonders if the rise of the new technologies accounts for some of the rise in hyperactivity, and she raises the question of how education should harness these new technologies and use them best
