Summary |
With their vintage keyboards and incomparable energy, General Elektriks distills a groove between funk, pop and electro that leaves no one unmoved. Hervé Salters, the man behind this electric nickname, has accompanied many artists on the keyboard, such as Femi Kuti, -M- and the late DJ Mehdi. His career has spanned more than twenty years during which he co-produced albums for Californian rapper Pigeon John, co-directed the last two by Brazilian singer Céu, which won him two Latin Grammys, and composed soundtracks for films and series. But alongside all these collaborations, Hervé has developed a very personal sound and universe since his departure in 1999 for Los Angeles, where the idea of General Elektriks matured. Associated with the hip-hop collective Quannum Projects, which includes Blackalicious and Lyrics Born, among others, he released his first opus Cliquety Kliqk (2003). Always accompanied by his favorite Clavinet-C keyboard, the same as Stevie Wonder's, he continued his solo adventures with a more organic record in 2006, Good City for Dreamers. We still have in mind the little whistled melody of the hit "Raid the radio," to be heard again in this concert recorded in 2018 at the Prisme theater in Élancourt. With his four musicians, just as dynamic as him, General Elektriks performed some titles from the album Carry no ghosts (2018), in which he switches between French, English and German. An explosive concert between electro and acoustic, showing the full palette of an accomplished and resolutely optimistic artist, who continues to send his messages to the world with his freshly released album Party Like A Human (2021).
