Summary |
The Dow collection consists of manuscript material relating to David McKenzie Dow (1870-1953); his son Hume Dow (1916-1997); and father John Lamont Dow (1837-1923). With a background in agriculture, politics and journalism, David travelled to the United States. He held the position of Official Secretary for Australia 1927-1931, and then continued as acting Commissioner General until March 1938. The collection contains personal and professional correspondence, newspaper clippings, photographs, certificates and other miscellaneous material. The collection also contains draft chapters and other material relating to the publication of his book "Melbourne Savages" |
