Summary |
The Great Move West begins with the westward movement of potters to California with its freedom from ceramic tradition and rich deposits of clay. The artistry and uniquely dazzling glazes of Glen Lukens are examined along with the Bauhaus influence of famed potter Marguerite Wildenhain. Included is documentation of the early years with Rudy Autio and 20th Century great, Peter Voulkos, working together at the Archie Bray Institute in Montana. Archival photographs and footage mark the visit of Japanese master potter Shoji Hamada and renowned English potter Bernard Leach to the Bray |
