Summary The study demonstrated that peanut allergens were able to adhere and cross a model of the intestinal epithelium. Peanut contact causes a decrease in barrier integrity and mislocalisation of tight junctions. Both allergens are endocytosed by multiple endocytotic mechanisms, which are useful targets for the development of future therapeutics
