Summary |
Francis Bacon was one of the most filmed artists of the 20th century, although he did not allow the filming of himself actually painting. The artist is given a powerful presence through the use of archival footage. The viewer experiences the charms of the man, which are in contrast to the disturbing nature of his paintings, showing screaming popes and deformed bodies. Bacon's works are examined through their likely connection to his relationships with six different men in six decades of his life. (From the UK, in English) (Masterpiece) |
