SUMMARY: Five troubled people - Emma, George, Shem, Raquel and Mrs. Mulvaney - shipwrecked on an uncharted island on the Great Barrier Reef help each other resolve their emotional conflicts. All decide they wish to be rescued, except Emma, who blames herself for her mother's death, and has become fiercely protective of the last of a herd of rare horses which she found on the island. For all five castaways the island provides an escape from reality, for each has a reason for not wanting to return to the mainland
